Master of Science in Sustainable Management and Technology

The two-year Master of Science in Sustainable Management and Technology (SMT), inaugurated in 2021, is delivered by the Enterprise for Society (E4S) Center on behalf of its three founding institutions: IMD, the University of Lausanne (UNIL), and the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). It trains the next generation to conduct business for the benefit of their organizations, the environment, and society.

Courses are taught by professors on the campuses of UNIL, IMD, and EPFL, thus bringing together the expertise of three internationally renowned academic institutions.

The program aims at building competencies along three dimensions: technology and innovation, economics and management, and sustainability. Uniquely, the SMT places a balanced focus on all three dimensions simultaneously.

A new cohort and first internships begin

The second cohort of 32 students began their Master of Science in Sustainable Management and Technology in September 2022. At the same time, the first cohort, now in the second and final year of the program, tackled eight challenging transformative projects brought by corporations and NGOs and, as their time in the classroom has now come to an end, they will start their first professional experience with a wide range of interesting internships in industry before graduating later in 2023.

In 2022 Ernst Göhner, Schlumberger, and the Lombard Odier Foundation joined us as new supporters of the Master program.
