|Speaker(s)||Philippe Furrer - Head of the Youth Olympic Games Engagement, Learn & Share at the IOC|
In a few months, the Olympic Games will take place in Brazil. We will all cheer for these champions pushing their limits to reach the Holy Grail… a medal!
What does it take for an athlete to participate in such a major event? We may only remember the first three of each competition. But what about the others??? Those who qualified and those who did not qualify. For this event, we will have the privilege of hearing from former athletes and Olympians in addition to young local athletes on their “way” to Rio 2016 or Tokyo 2020 who will share with us their respective challenges, sacrifices, quests for support (technical and financial), injuries, doubts and everything they face in order to fight in the arena of the Olympic Games.
This event will be facilitated by Philippe Furrer, Head of the Youth Olympic Games Engagement, Learn & Share at the IOC. Philippe is as well the Founder and President of “COOKIE” a local charity that provides support to young talented athletes in “Suisse Romande”. He will be accompanied by two Olympians and board members of COOKIE Sergei Aschwanden (Bejing 2008 bronze medal in Judo) and Anne-Sophie Thilo (Beijing 2008 Olympian in 470 sailing).
You are more than welcome to come with your teenagers to this event. Exceptionally, we will have no limit for guests below 22 years old and their participation will be free of charge. Please indicate it when registering.
