IMD’s new President Jean-Francois Manzoni has been directing senior executive programmes for the world’s best companies for over 20years in over 30 countries. During this session, he will share what his and others’ research tells us about why leaders - especially senior leaders - find it so hard to develop new behaviors, and what they and their organisations can do to improve their chances of success.
It is increasingly well accepted that the best predictor of executives’ future success is their ability to stay agile and keep learning over time. As a result, organisations have been investing significant time, money and energy in supporting executives’ lifelong leadership development. The good news is: Leaders are increasingly well informed; they often know what they should be doing. Unfortunately, they typically find it hard to implement this new knowledge and instead keep repeating habitual patterns of behaviour. Adding to the complexity is of course the increased focus on emerging technologies that not only alter business models and value creation, but also the way we work and interact with each other.
