IMD Lausanne campus experience dazzles participants

A glimpse of IMD’s home
October 2016

IMD’s origins date back to 1946, but its roots in Lausanne were laid down in 1956 when Nestlé and Harvard Business School opened IMD’s predecessor IMEDE, which would later become IMD in 1990.

A wide-range of diverse educational programs are offered by IMD, on campus in Lausanne, at IMD’s home away from home in Singapore, but also on site at organizations and in other locations around the world.

However, one of the things that ties all of IMD’s programs in Lausanne together is how much participants appreciate IMD’s campus and hospitality.

IMD in Lausanne is set on the beautiful shores of Lake Geneva and comprises a series of perfectly maintained buildings dating from 1787 for “the Residence” to 2008 for “the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center,” which houses IMD’s biggest auditorium and luxurious conference rooms.

Here is a taste of what recent participants are saying about the IMD Lausanne experience.

Megan Rock from the International Committee of the Red Cross, who was in a recent session of Strategies for Leadership (SL) said: “The meals at IMD’s restaurant were fresh and healthy, and the service was excellent”. About the attention IMD paid to her during the program, she said “the program coordinators were friendly, reliable and efficient. They always responded in a timely and useful manner and helped me with any questions I had, even before the program started. The assistants were always available. Thank you”.

For Niels Dijksman of Shell who recently attended the Strategic Finance (SF) program, “IMD’s staff was very friendly and they clearly invest a lot of time and effort in customer service”.

Walid Sewaydan from Kuwait Finance House who took Leading for Business Impact said: “There were no flaws in my experience at IMD. The staff showed excellent follow-up on all details. They were very well prepared ahead of my program. Everyone on campus was very pleasant and hospitable and always there to help”.

Vanda Fontana of Sacmi
, a leading supplier in the ceramics industry, who took the Foundations for Business Leadership program, said: “The restaurant is great. Everyday there are many different choices. The food is of excellent quality and there is a wide variety and more than sufficient quantity.”

“No words are good enough to describe my experience on IMD’s campus,” said Natasa Matyasova of Nestlé who was a recent Transition to Business Leadership participant.

For Frédéric Baur who recently completed Advanced Strategic Management, IMD has “top-notch service”. “It’s great to witness such high-quality Swiss hospitality at work.”

According to IMD President Dominique Turpin it’s no accident that participants are happy with their time at IMD. “We do everything we can to make sure executives have an excellent experience while they are here with us so they can focus on getting the maximum impact from their programs and not worry about anything else.”

IMD ensures that its participants enjoy the same level of service at its Southeast Asia Executive learning center in Singapore and at its other programs around the world, but there’s no place like IMD’s scenic home in Lausanne.
