IMD in Oman contributing to the development of a new generation of leaders

Oman hosts National CEO Program in partnership with IMD
November 2016

Last year Oman’s Private Public Partnership Committee launched a National CEO Program (NCP) in cooperation with IMD and McKinsey & Co. The program aims to develop a community of world-class Omani CEOs to help maximize the performance of the nation’s private sector and economy.

Arturo Bris, Professor of Finance and Director of IMD’s World Competitive Center, was recently in Oman to deliver learning on how financial rigor combines with strategic vision to make countries more competitive. Bris presented recent research examining the strengths and capabilities of the Sultanate’s economy and assessed its competitiveness in the global economy.

Bris gave an overview of the success drivers that will matter to Oman’s future global competitiveness to an audience of business leaders from every sector of the economy alongside senior government officials.

Professor Tawfik Jelassi, IMD’s Co-Director for the NCP, was also in Oman giving insights into the role future technology plays in shaping successful strategy today. Professor Jelassi focused on the way in which globally dominant players in markets around the world face disruption and competitive threats from new entrants and start-ups from the most surprising places.
