A group of IMD MBA
students and alumni
recently participated in the Rolex MBA Regatta, one of the premier MBA competitions in the world.
For the second year in a row, two IMD crews competed against 18 other top MBA schools, with IMD winning third place overall.
The Rolex MBA Regatta took place over four days in Santa Margherita, Italy where MBA schools from all over the world competed in sailing on Bennetau 36-foot boats along the beautiful coast of Portofino.
Antti Keintola (MBA Alumnus 2013) commented “We did something quite remarkable by winning third place. I’m incredibly happy and proud of what we achieved together. Over the course of four short days we improved how we worked as a team and we learned from the mistakes we made. Little by little, race by race we sailed faster and faster to the finals”.
Alberto Lastra (MBA Candidate 2015) added “IMD shined bright. It’s not only because of the good results, it’s because of our collaborative spirit and team effort. We also enjoyed interacting with people from all of the other schools”.
The event was not only about sailing but also networking, with nightly events including the highlight black tie gala dinner as well as a conference on global economic trends. This year, MBAs around the world had an enthusiastic discussion about “In search of equilibrium. Standing against the winds of an unpredictable environment” with the keynote speakers, Clemens Hellsberg, former chairman of the Vienna Philharmonics, and Marie Johns, former President and CEO of Verizon.
