IMD holds its first ever business forum in Lagos
March 26, 2013
IMD held its first ever business forum in Lagos, Nigeria, earlier this month.
About 150 senior business leaders attended the forum on March 4, which took place with the support of MTN Nigeria. Participants heard presentations from IMD Professors Carlos Braga (on economic megatrends and the implications for Africa), Didier Cossin (on governance successes and failures around the world) and Leif Sjoblom (on challenges of entrepreneurship at the bottom of the pyramid).
IMD Executive Director Hischam El Agamy gave a presentation on "What Kind of Business Leaders does Africa Need Today?"
Professors Braga and Sjoblom also led sessions in a separate event the following day, which was organized and sponsored by Guaranty Trust Bank.
"These events were a great success and were warmly received by our Alumni and senior executives operating in Nigeria. The discussion was excellent throughout. In addition to looking at the forces that are today shaping the decisions of business leaders around the world, the forum also allowed the participants to discuss issues related to African realities," said Dr El Agamy.
Participants included the Chairman of Nestlé Nigeria, the Chairman of Diamond Bank (the second largest bank in Nigeria), the Director of the World Bank in Nigeria and board members from the Nigerian Central Bank. For the IMD Alumni and learning partners the forum was, as some of the Alumni have said, an excellent learning and networking opportunity.
