As part of its efforts to develop its leaders, instill entrepreneurial spirit and drive innovation, the United Arab Emirates Prime Minister's office has signed a memorandum of understanding with IMD for cooperation on leadership development.

At the signing ceremony, speaking on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said that the MoU between the UAE Government Leaders Program (UAEGLP) and IMD, was concluded as part of efforts to develop strategic partnerships with leading global institutions to provide first class leadership education.

The MoU serves the Strategic Leaders Program (SLP), which offers executive education for the UAE government's senior leadership including Undersecretary Generals and Director Generals.

"The UAE Government is creating avenues for its leaders to learn from international best practices, including the creation of global networks," H.E. Al Gergawi said.

The MoU was signed by Ohood Al Roumi, Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office, and Dr. Hisham El-Agamy, IMD representative for the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and Central South Asia.

IMD President Dominique Turpin said: "The UAE is one of the top global hubs for business and IMD is delighted and privileged to be partnering with its Prime Minister's Office. Its leaders' long-term vision has allowed it to achieve impressive growth and to become an essential player on the global scene. IMD has long had a strong and excellent relationship with the UAE government and companies over the years, and this latest initiative will only strengthen our ties to the region for the future. Through this agreement, IMD intends to play an important role in developing current and future leaders in the UAE".

Dr. Hischam El Agamy said: "IMD is extremely pleased and honored to contribute to the Office of the Prime Minister's efforts in developing current and future business leaders in the UAE".

The IMD World Competitiveness Center's recently released yearly ranking places the UAE among the top five countries in the world in the field of government efficiency.

As part of the MoU, participants from the UAE will take part in IMD's signature program High Performance Leadership (HPL).

High Performance Leadership (HPL) is for experienced executives who want to achieve the next level of effectiveness in leading individuals, teams and large groups to their highest level of sustained performance.
