“This class was truly special,” said IMD Professor Bill Fischer speaking at the 25th reunion of the first class of IMD MBAs.

The recent event took place over two days and included sessions with IMD professors, social get-togethers, and meetings between the current class of MBAs and the class of 1990.

Over three quarters of the original class came to Lausanne for the event, with some flying to Switzerland from as far as Australia.

“This reunion experience was one that I will never forget. Four days of continuous conversation that oscillated from remembering the times shared as IMD's first
MBA class to intelligent debates of what the future holds in numerous sectors, countries and globally. It was based on deep personal connections, sincerity and warmth,” said Mike Burden, Director of Megabourse Ltd.

“The school's academic, alumni office and support staff did everything and more to make our visit hassle free and genuinely special. I am sure that I reflect the views of our class when I say that I am deeply proud to be an IMD Alumnus”, Mike added.

Presentations included updates on the
MBA program by current director Ralf Boscheck, a session on sustainability by Francisco Szekely, analysis of geopolitics by Carlos Braga, and an interactive discussion on China by Bill Fischer and Howard Yu.

One of the highlights of the event was the social gathering between the current MBA class and the class of 1990.

“For our class it was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to meet the first ever
IMD MBA class and learn about their respective individual journeys from their MBA to now. For me it was truly inspiring to get their retro-perspective on the MBA program and how it helped them in both their professional and personal development,” said Georg Schroeder, member of this year’s MBA class.

The 1990 MBA class was the first to study at IMD, which was formed by the merger of IMI and IMEDE business schools that year.

The class of 1990 met for the last time in 2010, for their 20th year anniversary.
