Meet your Program Director

Peter Vogel is Professor of Family Business and Entrepreneurship and holder of the Debiopharm Chair for Family Philanthropy at IMD Business School in Lausanne. He is also the Director of IMD Global Family Business Center.

In his research, teaching and advisory work, Peter works with family- & non-family enterprises globally on organizational regeneration through intrapreneurship, talent development & succession, strategy, governance, change management, and investment opportunities. He has extensive experience in working with owners of large family-controlled enterprises, as well as non-family leaders in family businesses.

Peter has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice, has written a number of books and book chapters as well as scientific and practitioner-oriented reports. His work is frequently referenced by leading newspapers and other media outlets, such as Harvard Business Review, CNN, Huffington Post, Forbes, Financial Times, Techcrunch, among others. He is a regular conference speaker, including TEDxLausanne, the Global Economic Symposium, the Family Matters Forum, the Family Business Network Global Summit, the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance Summit, the St. Gallen Symposium, among others.

He has been inducted into the Family Business Hall of Fame 2023, which recognizes the exceptional contribution of individuals and their work in advancing the field of family business.
