Navigating the future
Navigating the future
With Professor Ralf Boscheck
In 2010, the United Nations identified 15 global challenges facing mankind. In one form or another, three-quarters of these relate either to demographic developments and their implications for food security, health and personal self-determination or to the use of vital resources and opportunities for conservation and substitution.
While the issues are urgent, failures to coordinate the interests of current and future generations - and of emerged and emerging countries - have already driven the agenda beyond conventional sustainability thinking. In some cases, mitigation may still be possible; in others, adaptation is the only option left. In this stream we will explore some of the facets of human prospects.
