Innovation has often become a key factor of survival and sustainable performance. Boards have thus become involved, not only at monitoring the innovation performance of the business but more importantly at contributing to it in more and more significant ways. Board diversity is key in this regard. Board members from other industries can foresee sudden industry shifts or disruptive moves faster. Representatives from other stakeholders, such as major customers, can also push companies to be less complacent in front of the organizational difficulties at innovating. Even employee representatives can be an excellent source of innovative thinking. We will explore together how best-in-class boards make innovative companies more successful and shake the slow movers out of their comfort zone into innovation excellence.
