After a degree in economics from the University of Geneva, Thierry Lombard, representing the 6th generation, joined Lombard Odier in 1972 for a career of 42 years.  

He became Managing Partner in 1982 and held the position of Senior Partner from 1995 to 2008.

During his career, Thierry Lombard was involved in the institutional and private banking activities, human resources, pension funds, and he was more specifically interested by the thematic of investment strategy.

In addition, he was the instigator and co-author of several books addressing the issues of succession, wealth, philanthropy and investment. He also has been close to domains linked with innovation, entrepreneurship, including a long-term relationship with the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanne.

As a strong supporter of family business, Thierry Lombard chairs the board of a worldwide association, the Family Business Network International, which gathers more than 8000 family business members, including the young generation.

He is a member of the Assembly of the ICRC (the International Committee of the Red Cross) and is active in various medical and humanitarian foundations. He chairs the Fondation Lombard Odier and Fondation Philanthropia (an umbrella foundation for the clients of the Bank).
