| Text | Dr. Peter Lorange, President of IMD, emphasizing that Lausanne is IMD’s global meeting place and the world’s best institute for executive learning, declares: "It is with thanks and appreciation that I announce that The A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation of Copenhagen, Denmark, has donated SFR 15 million to IMD for the construction of a center for executive learning, to be completed in June 2008. This is the largest donation ever received by IMD, which will cover roughly half of the total cost of SFR 34 million. It will very much be a state-of-the-art facility, with 7 auditoriums or flat rooms of various capacities and 45 study rooms and coaching rooms. It is our intention to name the center after the Chairman of the Foundation, Mr. Mærsk Mc- Kinney Møller, who is personally a strong promoter of management development on all levels.” The A.P. Moller - Mærsk Group The A.P. Moller - Mærsk Group is an international company of Danish origin. This global Group of more than 110.000 employees and offices over 125 countries is involved in a diverse range of business industries such as transportation, oil production and shipbuilding. Founded in 1904, the A.P. Moller - Mærsk Group is widely recognised for its activities within shipping, energy, offshore, retail and industry. The A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation On 31 December 1946, when shipping companies slowly began making long-term plans again, A.P. Møller established The A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation. The 70-year-old A.P. Møller decided to secure his life’s work against take-over by speculators, possibly from abroad, who would proceed to run the business in a spirit completely different from his own. With the consent of his three children, he therefore established a foundation into which the vast majority of his personal wealth was, in time, transferred. |
