Text Executives from around the world will be able to gain the latest insights on leading in turbulent times from IMD’s world-class Faculty and listen to evening keynote addresses from the likes of Nestlé CEO Paul Bulcke, Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani and IMD World Competitiveness Center Director Stéphane Garelli during Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP), the global business program for individuals and teams which runs from June 20–25, 2009 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

How can business leaders prepare for global economic power shifts? What is the best strategic response to beating low-cost competition? How can executives engage their people for change? These are among the questions that will be addressed during the program.

As businesses cost-cut and companies slash executive education budgets, OWP Program Director Bettina Büchel notes that expenditure for relevant and timely programs is all the more essential during an economic slowdown.

“At critical periods, it’s imperative to get a clear overview of what’s actually happening and what’s likely to happen next,” she stated. “Crises offer opportunities for executives ready to take bold, decisive action, lead radical change and find technological ways to innovate and compete. OWP helps executives clarify immediate challenges and explore long-term solutions. It serves as an ideal setting for executives to network and for corporate teams to address their most critical challenges. It is in these tough times that programs like OWP are all the more relevant and essential for companies that want to be on top when the good times return.”

OWP is IMD’s flagship open-enrollment program. It has attracted thousands of executives from around the world since the program’s inception back in 1995. Along with the networking and team-building emphasis intrinsic to the program, executives are also able to hear the entire IMD Faculty team unveil their latest research in management thinking and gain insights on how global trends will impact business. “During these turbulent times, looking at various scenarios derived from an understanding of the major global trends such as demographics, consumer behavior, technology uptakes and geo-political developments will enable executives to make sound business decisions and obtain a competitive advantage,” Professor Büchel explained.

From Crises to Business Opportunities, Global Economic Power Shifts and Mastering New Challenges are among the streams included in the program schedule.
