The Career Women’s Forum (CWF) and the European Professional Women’s Network (EPWN) are pleased to announce an alliance with IMD (Institute of Management Development), in Lausanne, Switzerland, one of the world’s top business schools.

"Our strategy at IMD is always to stay focused. Since last fall, we have been assessing the different women’s networks to try to determine which ones would create the most synergy", said Martha Maznevski, Professor of Organizational Behaviour and International Management at IMD and Director of IMD’s Strategic Leadership for Women program. "The choice of an alliance with the CWF and EPWN fits both IMD's objectives and the visions of these two organisations."

The alliance coincides with the CWF’s new focus on raising the proportion of women in leadership positions. The Forum became a member of the European network in January 2005, thanks to a common vision of the priorities for the coming years.

"IMD’s decision brings us a key partner for the initiatives we are planning for the coming months", commented CWF President, Karen Saddler. In particular, we are looking to bring together Chairmen and CEOs to look at the issues professional women face in the work place and concrete steps that can be taken, and to involve some of them in a high-level mentoring programme for board-ready women. In parallel, we hope IMD will develop a seminar to prepare people for Board positions, with a first one dedicated to women. IMD is the perfect partner for these initiatives. For our part, together with the EPWN, we bring a network of 3'000 executive women across Europe and an understanding of their particular needs."

The CWF has also offered IMD's women MBA students free membership in the Forum for the duration of their studies. "We are strong believers in developing a professional network as early as possible to strengthen the learning experience amongst peers and reinforce individual performance", said Karen Saddler. "In this case, it is also a way of helping top talent along that path."
