IMD executive education has been ranked 3rd in the world and 1st among European business schools for the overall quality of its programs, according to the 2005 The Financial Times rankings of top executive education providers.

For custom (partnership) programs, IMD secured 1st place ranking worldwide on four criteria:

  • Quality of teaching and ability to deliver a coherent program
  • Program follow-up
  • Degree to which academic and business aims and expectations were met
  • Likelihood of future use by existing clients.

For custom programs, IMD obtained 2nd place ranking worldwide on four criteria:

  • Pre-course preparation
  • Quality of teaching materials, particularly the mix of academic rigor and practical relevance
  • Quality of facilities -- classrooms, IT and library facilities
  • International participants in programs.

For custom programs, IMD also realized 3rd place ranking worldwide on (i) course design and (ii) relevance and ease of implementing new skills learned when back at the workplace.

For open enrollment programs, IMD's highest relative scores were associated with facilities, faculty diversity, quality of participants and quality of teaching materials.

"IMD takes great pride in the Financial Times global survey of executive education providers 2005 rankings. They are IMD’s best rankings in some years," said Dr. Peter Lorange, President IMD. "They highlight the value, in a highly competitive market and difficult global economic climate, of offering only the very best of executive development, top faculty, service, and facilities, and state-of-the-art custom and open programs."
