Xavier Gilbert is Emeritus Professor of Strategy at IMD.

Professor Gilbert’s areas of special interest are competitive strategy analysis and strategy execution, with particular emphasis on the execution of strategic initiatives.

He has considerable experience in executive education, having been Professor of Business Administration at IMEDE – one of the two founding Institutes of IMD – since 1971.

During that time Xavier Gilbert directed several programs, including the one-year MBA program and the Program for Executive Development. He has held several managerial positions within IMEDE and IMD, and was interim Director General of IMD in 1992-1993.
He is also a consultant, chiefly on strategy execution, to the senior teams of several leading companies.

Professor Gilbert is a graduate of ESSEC (Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales, France) and has a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Harvard Business School.
