Vita

Nadine B. Hack is recognized internationally for her proven expertise in:

  • strategic action planning
  • creative problem solving
  • insightful policy analysis
  • politically sensitive negotiations

She has provided innovative guidance to, imparted tactical direction for and created crucial partnerships with institutions from multiple sectors for decade. Promoting good deeds as great investments, her trademark process mobilizing highly relational engagement (HRE) of internal and external stakeholders is designed to advance organizations’ missions and values. Her specialities include:

  • creating complex multi-sector strategic alliances in a globalized world
  • managing reputations in a socially-conscious society through substantive innovations 
  • developing new presences in specific communities by region or market segmentation
  • instituting organizational and governance strcutures to achieve these and other goals

Hack has extensive experience with the United Nations, where she served as New York City Commissioner for the United Nations, Consular Corps and International Business, the city’s senior official liaison with the world’s largest international diplomatic and business communities. She has advised three UN Secretary-Generals and heads of state such as Philippines President Corazon Aquino, South African President Nelson Mandela and other senior government officials.

She has also worked on HRE projects with: national and multi-national corporations throughout the world including Coca-Cola, Chevron Texaco, Deutsche Telecom, AOL/Time Warner, Aprica Kassai Industries, Fujitsu Siemens, Levi Straus & Company, Reebok International, and Volkswagen; global foundations including Bill and Melinda Gates, Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, OSI and MacArthur; and International Development Agencies including USAID and GTZ. Hack has served on official delegations and fact-finding missions globally, with a particular emphasis on southern Africa.

She has been a keynote speaker at myriad conferences and had numerous articles written about or published by her including in The New York Times, Boston Globe, USA Today, UN Chronicle. Television, radio and internet interviews include NPR, FOX, MNN, UN Radio and TV. She is listed on SheSource.org, an on-line database of international women experts in their fields. She designed and taught courses for NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and SNHU Graduate School of Community Economic Development, where she gave their 2009 Intl Program commencement speech.

Her service on for- and not-for-profit governance boards includes the World Policy Institute, Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation (Chair through 2005), Africa-America Institute (Vice Chair through 2009), Synergos Institute (Executive Committee through 2009), Xechem International Inc., Amnesty International USA, and United Nations Association of New York. She has accepted awards including South Africa’s National Order Grand Companions of OR Tambo, NYWA Star, International Outstanding Achievement, Woman of the Year, Distinguished Women of New York and New American Leader.

At IMD she will focuses on responsible leadership (e.g. good governance, transparency, diversity, sustainability, corporate social responsibility) with particular emphasis on the value of highly relational engagement of internal and external stakeholders. She is expanding her framing of substantive data so more business leaders know why these practices will accrue to their bottom line. She continues her beCause consulting work while teaching and writing for executive education programs at IMD.
